Yeah! when i e-mailed them i told them that they have to credit me as well as that they should have ASKED before using it. I looked on the front page of their website, and it says right there that they always ask for permission before they post an artist's work. Whatever dumbass mod who decided to post up other people's work probably lied to the admin about getting permission.

I sent them an email too, reminding them that Deviantart has a copyright policy on their website which protects their members. I've seen other websites get shut down because artists complained to Deviantart that their work had been stolen.

I got a reply today:

As I do not have anything to do with the gallery section I was not aware of this and cannot take them down personally, but I will endevour to have the person in charge do it for you.

They also temporarily closed the art gallery because "we had complaints that our current fanart gallery was of a very low quality indeed."

It's also now mentioned on the homepage: We usually contact the Author/Artist for permission to use Links to their Fics/Fanart.

If you do not wish your Fic/Artwork to be Linked from this site contact us and it will be removed.

He emailed me back telling me that he's not in charge of the gallery and that it's illegal to send accusatory emails. He also said that it's not their fault that someone lied to them about who the artwork belonged to and that they don't have the ability or the time to verify all of their content.

I told him TO FRIGGIN GOOGLE IT.

By the way, did any of you get a "Also in future, could you send E-mails that are not immediately accusatory, threatening or inflammatory as that is against the law" bullshit line?

I would have called him on it, but then I realized that they don't have the First Amendment in the UK...
