Flame haired waitress Arlene Fowler,knew she was in
trouble the second she could smell the pinch of
cinnamon in the huge pot of chili on the stove.
Her sense of smell only became this hightened when she was expecting a child. It happened both times before when she had Colby and Lisa,and it was happening now again,and it could mean only one thing.

Arlene,made a bee line for the ladie's room,leaving an order of freshly fried onion rings,sitting under a
heat lamp to get somewhat soggy. LaFayette called after her "You forgot you rings" she didn't even answer him just kept on walking till she burst thru
the door then rushed into a stall an tossed up her
breakfast into the toliet,not once but twice.

"Oh,no good lord I'm pregnant again" Arlene said to
herself how could this happen,she and Terry had been
so careful,they'd used condoms,plus she was on the pill just so she wouldn't get pregnant.

She splashed some water onto her face,then rinsed the
bitter aftertaste of bile and her breakfast out of her mouth,then taking a final look into the mirror,fixed her hair and makeup.
She walked into the kitchen,asking LaFayette for some
soda crackers and dry toast,then she asked Sam for a
large glass of gingerale,without ice.
She asked him for some time off,she asked if she could use his office? He said sure, "not too long,we're busy and I need you on the floor ok"?
Sam asked "Are you feeling alright,I noticed the soda
crackers/gingerale,you're not expecting are you?"

"No,Sam I'm not pregnant, just have an upset stomach"
Arlene took the soda crackers/gingerale into his office,then taking her bag out of the drawer,where he
allowed the waitresses to keep them,she pulled out
her calandar, searching for the date of her last period and the last time she'd had sex with her then
fiancee Rene Lanier before he was killed on Labour day weekend. Arlene found that she and Rene last had
relations on September 1st. "Oh shit, this baby could
very well be Rene's and not Terry's what am I going to do, I can't tell him that I'll lose him"

They stopped at the school,picking up Colby & Lisa,who scrambled into the car,headed on home,once there Arlene went into the kitchen,fixed herself a glass of gingerale,to help settle her stomach,then went and took a nap till dinner,but not before telling the kids to do their homework quietly.
Terry, watched the kids while Arlene got some rest.
He wondered what was wrong,but kept it to himself.
He'd talk to Arlene alone in private later on tonight
now was not the time,it would hold.

Terry fianlly came into bed around 12:30AM,to find Arlene,fast asleep,a book lying in her lap.
He gently removed the book,placed her reading glasses,that nobody knew she wore on her nightstand,and then went into the bathroom, and quietly did his business then slipped into bed.......

The next morning Terry got the kids dressed,fed them,then he drove them to school,then he went into
Merlotte's to get ready for the lunch crowd.
The bar was opened,but most people just stopped to get a container of coffee or a take out breakfast.

Arlene awoke at around 10:30AM,she went straight into the bathroom, and took one of the four pregnancy
tests she'd picked up at the drug store and peed into it as instructed.Then she placed it on the counter of the sink,and took a shower and hoped that
she wouldn't see twin ++ signs.

But with her luck she knew that's what she'd find,when she looked at the test. She never found a
- sign,she was regular as a digital clock.
And all she had to do was kiss a guy she liked,that is all it took with Lisa's daddy and she was pregnant,getting out of the shower,Arlene picked up the test,she looked at the digital read out and sure,
enought she found twin plus signs in the window.

"Oh no, I'm pregnant, and this baby maybe Rene's,I have to find out just how pregnant I am".
Searching for her dayplanner,she found the name & number of her OBG/YN and called to set up an appointment for a proper pregnancy test and a ultrasound,which would help tell her how far along she was- "Hi,I'm Arlene Fowler,and I need to set up an appointment to see Dr.Harris,any chance I can come in this afternoon before 3:00PM?"

This Sunday,there were two very important NFL Playoff
games,that would decide who plays in SuperBowl XLIVI,
that's going to be played on February 6th,2011 at
Cowboy's Stadium,in Arlington,Texas.
Arlene,and the other ladies who worked at Merlotte's,
knew that if they worked on the next few Sunday's,
they could "clean up tip wise,in additon to their regular salay,plus the bonus Sam paid for working on
Sunday's" She'd be working the next three Sunday's.

Arlene,and Terry told Lafayette if he needed extra help in the kitchen to just ask,and they'd stay late
and help him do extra prep work before Sunday.

On Friday morning Arlene,showered,then dressed and headed to her appointment to see Dr.Harris.
She had her datebook with her,and she had drunk lots of water,since last night before and since she got up,but she'd not gone to the bathroom,as requested by
the doctor's nurse,as she was going to be undergoing
a ultrasound test to see how far along she was.

When she got to Dr.Harris's clinic,Arlene parked her
car,then went inside stopping at the desk.
"I'm here to see Dr.Harris,I'm ArleneFowler".
"We're expecting you,you'll be going in shortly,do you think you can give me a small urine sample"
"that won't be any problem"
"After you've gone to the bathroom,please change into this gown,and remove your panties,and bra.
Then get unto the table,and wait for Dr.Harris to join you and he'll begin the test".

Arlene did as the nurse instructed,leaving the urine
sample on the back lid of the toliet,after washing her hands she undressed,changing into the gown,and
went and got seated on the exaimnation table.
"Hello,Arlene,what seems to be the problem?"
"Dr.Harris, I think I'm expecting again- I have to know for sure if I am and how far along am I?!?!"

"Now lie back,and let's do an exam on you and let me
see what I can find?" Dr.Harris,opened Arlene's gown
then placed his hands on her belly,then he began to move his hands/fingers in small circles "I think I'm
going to do a detailed ultrasound on you,I beleive that you're expecting again"
Dr. Harris, called his nurse "I need to do an ultrasound on Mrs.Fowler right away,come set up in
Exam Room one" "We'll see what's going on real soon"

Arlene continued to lay back,a bit scared at what the doctor was going to find,if she was expecting how far along was she? Could this baby's dad really be her dead,exhusband Rene Lanier's. They were still togehter when he was killed by Sookie Stackhouse.
Turns out that Rene,was the one who killed both of her co-workers,DawnGreen and Maudette Picken's.
Rene had even asked Arlene to remarry him,and to give him a third chance,he promised he'd changed.

"Alright,let's see who/whats going on in your tummy?
"This is going to be cold" Dr.Harris warned as he put a nice amount of gel on Arlene's belly,then he took up the widest probe and drew it thru the gel,going back and forth,till he got an image.
"Well,it looks to me like you're expecting twins!"
"What,Dr.Harris you're kidding me? I can't be having
twins please tell me you are kidding me?"
"Arlene,calm down,look on the screen,you see those two beating hearts,and you see their little legs"
Dr.Harris turned up the sound on the ultrasound unit,and the room was filled with a steady dub dub dub, not once but twice and in perfect unison.
Arlene,crying said "that's really my babies heart beats and I'm really expecting twins".
"Yes,you're expecting twins,and from the looks of things their about 8-13 weeks along,you're about three months along from their size"
"I'm three months along? Dr.Harris are you sure?"

"Arlene,I'm sure,youve been through this twice before,you know what's happening"
"I just didn't think I was that far along".
"I want you back here in three weeks,and I'll run another ultrasound on you to make sure how far along
you are and how they're doing".

"Now I want you to take it easy,if you can"
"No real heavy lifting,and take breaks if you can".

Arlene got dressed, then went to her car and cried.
She couldn't beleive it she was expecting twins,and
they may or may not be Terry's?.
How was she going to tell that sweet man that they were going to be parents? Would he accept these children,would he still love her?????????????

Arlene knew she had to inform her boss Sam Merlotte
about her pregnancy- Sam knew Arlene was expecting.
He'd sensed it the other day when she was taking a break and he'd even asked her if she was expecting.
She lied and made a joke.
But since yesterday she knew it wasn't a joke anymore
She knew it was for REAL-Dr.Harris confirmed it.
She was expecting twin boys in July.

She dressed for work,she was on the day shift today.
She wore the Merlotte's Winter outfit long sleeve white cotton turtleneck,black slacks,apron and black shoes.The turtleneck had green writing over the left
hand breast "Merlotte's"-Arlene wore a gros grain ribbon of the same colour in her flame golden hair.
She pulled on her winter coat and got behind the wheel of her car and headed into town..

"Sam I have to talk to you it's real important do you
have a few minutes before my shift begins?"
"Sure Arlene what's on your mind".
"Now you remember how the other day you caught me taking a small break and I was sipping gingerale and
munching on soda crackers?"
"You're going to tell me your expecting" Sam said.
"How did you know?"
"YOU'RE glowing Arlene-and if I'm not wrong TWINS!"
"Sam please don't say anything to any of the others til we tell them ourselves in our own time"
"How long are you going to keep it a secret-when are
you due and how far along are you?" Sam asked.

"Well,I'm about 2 months along and I've not shown earlier than 4 1/2 months so we have some time yet".
"I'll keep your secret and you tell me when you need to see your doctors appointments you hear me?".
"Thank you Sam,you're the best boss ever!?"
"Arlene do you know what your having?"
"No I don't not yet".
"I'm going to get some carts for the waitresses so you won't have to lift heavy trays anymore".
"Thanks Sam" Arlene said kissing him on the cheek.

SUPERBOWL SUNDAY BLOWOUT AT MERLOTTE'S
WIVES LET YOUR HUSBAND'S COME HERE TO CELEBRATE
AND WATCH THE GAME THAT YOU REALLY HATE: FOOTBALL.
WE'LL FEED THEM,TAKE CARE OF THEM AND EVEN SEND THEM
HOME IN A CAB IF NEED BE~ IF THEY OVERINDULGE.
HUMANS SHAPESHIFTER VAMPIRES ALLOWED
NO GUNS OR AMMO ALLOWED~THAT INCLUDES STAKES!
This was the flier that Sam Merlotte had printed up
and sent to many of his "regluars" and he also had
them put up all over towne to let people know about
the big bash he was throwing~ he figured get the men out of their houses and let the wives have some "me time of their own" and he also make some cash.

The day before the game Sam,LaFayette & Terry were working late cutting vegatables,putting up pots of chili putting in huge bowls of chicken wings and also
allagator nuggets to soak in marinate overnight.
On the menu was going to be the following:
Triple dipped double fried Southern Fried Chicken
Spicy Chicken Wings with Hot bleu cheese dressing
Fried Allagator with Hot Honey Dipping Sauce
Oyster stew
Spicy Cajun Jumbala
Cajun Meatballs with 3 kinds of Dipping Sauce
Four Alarm Cajun Chili with Boudan Sausage/red beans
Cold Draft Beer, or Licquor from the Bar or TRUEBLOOD
Sam had put in a call to Fangtasia to find out what kind of things vampires like to snack on.
Pam said she'd take care of the catering for the Vamps and would use John Quinn's firm and have it delivered to Merlotte's at 6:00PM

The guys worked and talked as they got things ready for Sunday night's big bash. Sam was looking foward to this and LaFayette loved what they'd came up with to serve. He was going to try out the Chili recipe he'd gotten from Jesus who was his newest lover.
Terry after the last patron left he got ahead start on cleaning up the place he went and swept the joint
then he wiped down the tables and the bar.
Tomorrow he was going to come in early to wash the floors~all of them including the ones in the bathroom
Merlotte's was only going to be open for breakfast and then it would close at 12noon then reopen at 5:45PM and stay open till 12midnight.
Now Arlene would be working some of the morning then she would come back at 5:00Pm and work the Party.
She and Sam had decided this after he had heard about Jessica expecting.
He didn't want both of them working the same shifts while they were expecting.
Sookie had called Sam after Jessica had a dream where she was at her baby shower.
Arlene showed up looking like as big as a house wearing a brand new shiny gold wedding ring.
He told her that she had to keep it a secret that Arlene was also expecting.She said she would.

There was good old Southern country music coming from the televison and everyone was busy helping to get things ready for tonight's party.
Terry was helping LaFayette to get appitizers and other dishes together so that they
could begin cooking things by 5:00PM and start putting together the buffett tables.
Jesus gave LaFayette his grandmother's recipe for Triple dipped Coconut Chicken which was fried according to regular fried chicken recipes.
At 4:45PM the guys from "Elegant Eateries" John Quinn's firm showed up at Merlotte's
and began to set up the Vampire/shifter part of the party.
They set up the area Sam had set aside for the Vampires to party near the pool table.
They'd have their own separate area away from the Human/Shifter area but were
free to mingle and partake of the bar -Just NO hunting/biting allowed.

"I've got to take a break my back's killing me" Arlene said placing a hand on her lower
back  and finding a seat to take off some of the baby weight.
"you ok you look alittle pale"? Asked Holly one of Sam's newest hires.
"I'm fine just tired and theres a spring in my matress which keeps on poking me "
"Sounds like you need a new mattress-either that or you're expecting"
"Holly can you keep a secret? You're correct I'm expecting again only you and Sam
and one other person know this fact and we don't want to let anyone know yet".
"Twins right? and they're boys?  And you think that your boyfriend's not the dad?"
" yes how did you know? They could be my ex's but he got killed in April so we won't
know till I have a amenosentisis test in three weeks"
"Arlene I'm a Witch,a follower to the Wicca religion and if you'd like I can tell you if
those boys are your ex's or your present boyfriend's would you like to find out before
you go for the other test and to have DNA tests done?"

"How would we go about it-finding out who's children they are?"
"Do you still have anything of your old boyfriends around the house like clothes or
his hairbrush- I'm needing something that he wore I'm looking for a strand of his hair"
"What for ?"
"I need to make a potion out of his hair and then you're going to drink it and I'll be
able to tell from you're pee if he's the father or not?"
"Also I'll know from the feel of your belly I can get vibrations from it"
"When are you scheduled for that doctor's appointment? This has to be done on
the next full moon but before Passover/Easter holidays".
"My appointment's scheduled for March 15th  at 12PM".
"perfect then we'll meet on March 4th that's first moon full moon's on the 19th"
"I'm going to need you to collect your first morning's urine in a clear clean glass jar
that's been strilized in really hot water then have it waiting for me when I come to see you that night and we'll run my test before your doctor's appointment".
"better get back to work while I still can  work. thanks Holly."

At 5:45PM Alcide Hevereaux drove up in the truck from "Elegant Entertainment" and
came into the bar to find Sam.He was working as Eric Northman's liason for the Vampires and also working as second to his Packmaster.
Sam showed him were he'd help set up the blood fountain for the Vampires.
And where they could find other things Vampires ate.
The Vampires would not be arriving till after the cointoss.

The smells from the kitchen  were maddening.
Fried oakra,cajun buffelo Chicken wings & hush puppies. A huge vat of Jumbyla and
fresh biscuits and rolls baking. "Yuuuuummmmmaaahhh this kitchen's makin me hungry I could  eat a whole horse !" Terry Bellefleur said slapping his belly.
"LaFayette can I steal something? Just a little sample? Please?"

"Sure Terry have a taste of the Jumbyla I need someone to tell me if it needs more spices in it? Now be honest".
"Well maybe just a drop more hot sauce and a little bit of sassafrass."
